NURSE EDUCATOR & COMPLEX CARE PACKAGE MANAGER
LOCATION: BRIGHTON SUSSEX 

Salary: £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Educator & Complex Care Package Manager to join our clinical team. This hybrid role combines clinical education and competency development with care package management and clinical oversight for children and adults with complex health needs in the community.

The post holder will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality, safe, and person-centred care through robust training, competency sign-off, and ongoing clinical governance of complex care packages.

Key Responsibilities

Nurse Education, Training & Competency

  • Develop and deliver bespoke clinical training programmes aligned to complex care needs

  • Train and assess nurses and carers in complex clinical skills (e.g. ventilation, tracheostomy care, PEG feeding, seizure management, medication administration)

  • Undertake formal competency assessments and sign-off staff as competent for clinical practice

  • Maintain accurate training, competency, and compliance records

  • Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and ongoing support to staff teams

  • Ensure training reflects current evidence-based practice and national guidance

Complex Care Package Management & Clinical Oversight

  • Provide clinical oversight and management of complex care packages in the community

  • Contribute to assessments, care planning, and risk management

  • Act as a clinical escalation point for staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams

  • Undertake regular clinical reviews to monitor care quality and outcomes

  • Support the onboarding and mobilisation of new care packages

  • Clinical Governance & Quality

  • Ensure care delivery meets CQC, organisational, and commissioning requirements

  • Participate in audits, incident investigations, and learning reviews

  • Identify risks and implement quality improvement actions

  • Support service development and continuous improvement initiatives

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Adult, Children’s, or Learning Disability) with current NMC registration

  • Proven experience working within complex care or community-based services

  • Experience delivering clinical training and competency assessment

  • Strong understanding of clinical governance and risk management

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

  • Ability to work autonomously across a small portfolio of care packages

Desirable

  • Teaching or assessor qualification

  • Experience with ventilated patients, long-term conditions, or neurological care

  • Experience working with commissioners and multidisciplinary teams
